Bea is working on a story about the lending company Easy when she meets Peder on Malta. He's there to consider a job offer, and an old friend shows him how Easy will be able to exploit gambling addicts for big profits.

Bea is unhappy with her first article about Easy and wants to dig deeper, but she encounters resistance from her paper. She is told to back down, but she persists, discovering the company's predatory practice of lending to gambling addicts.

Bea infiltrates Together Casino's VIP department so she can learn how the company deals with their habitual gamblers. She discovers that many of them borrow money from the same company: Easy.

Bea is invited by Peder to go on a sailing trip with him and his son. During the boat trip, Peder rummages through the research material in Bea's bag and realizes that she's on to him.

Bea interviews Bjarne Rasmussen, but, under pressure, he runs away. Peder's investment is threatened by an old rival. At a romantic dinner, Bea and Peder try to be honest with each other, but the evening ends in tears.

Bea is jailed, putting the Daily Post in a predicament. Peder is conflicted and decides to bribe her out of jail. Returning to Stockholm, Bea discovers that Thulin - the key source in the story about Easy - is missing.

Bea is trying to track down Thulin when she gets shocking news - her mentor Rapp has collapsed from a heart attack. Eckervik fools Susanne and locks her up with Thulin. Bea confronts Peder to find out where Thulin is, and Peder confronts Eckervik.

With Thulin and Susanne dying from dehydration, Peder finds the address and forwards it to Bea, who races to rescue them in time. Peder tries to save himself by going through with the illegal deal with China, but he is being watched.
